The New World Chorale joins the Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms Society, under the direction of Steven Lipsitt, in the opening concert of their tenth anniversary season. The chorus and orchestra will perform Psalm 42 by Felix Mendelssohn. Of his many oratorios, Psalm 42 was Mendelssohn’s favorite. The heartfelt, yearning text has inspired composers from medieval times to the present day.

This concert also features Emilie Meyer’s dramatic Overture in D minor and the Second Symphony by Johannes Brahms, one of the glories of the Classical-Romantic repertoire.
