On September 13, the New World Chorale joins the Lexington Symphony for the first time in their season-opening concert. Under the direction of Lexington Symphony Music Director Jonathan McPhee, the New World Chorale will perform the timeless Mozart Requiem along with soloists Holly Cameron, soprano; Cabiria Jacobsen, mezzo-soprano; Martin Thomson, tenor; and New World Chorale member Michael Prichard, bass. Also on the program are Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Dance Preludes by Witold Lutoslawski. See the Lexington Symphony web site for ticket information.
The following week, on September 20, the New World Chorale joins the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, also for the first time, in a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 (“Choral”) at beautiful Memorial Hall in historic Plymouth. The soloists are Barbara Kilduff, soprano; Victoria Avetisyan, mezzo-soprano; Neal Harrelson, tenor; and Philip Lima, baritone. The program also includes Second Essay for Orchestra, Op 17 by Samuel Barber. This concert opens the 93rd season of the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra and celebrates Steven Karidoyanes’ 15th Season as Music Director and Conductor.
